The original LA Street Food Fest returns to the Rose Bowl for their 2011 Summer Tasting Event on July 16. With over 65 top restaurants, gourmet trucks, Top Chefs and for the first time ever, a group of Baja chefs including Javier Plascencia, the LA Street Food Fest seems to have outdone themselves once again. This past week, the event organizers invited us out for a preview of what will be offered.

Saturday April 16 from 12-2 pm, Surfas Restaurant Supply and Gourmet Food and Ricardo Cervantes of La Monarca bakery will host a special demonstration on making two traditional Mexican Easter baked treats- Capirotada, a baked bread pudding filled with raisins and nuts and a Mexican Corn Bread lighter and more delicate than the American version and a staple on the Easter table. This is as authentic as it comes!

This Saturday, October 16, Celebrity Chef Tom Colicchio will be in Los Angeles in preparation for his November 1st wine dinner. This exclusive dinner follows his recent trip to South Australia and will celebrate the food and wine he discovered while touring the Australian state. Chef Colicchio will create a five course tasting menu for the evening featuring local delicacies such as South Australian rock lobster tails and wagyu beef, putting his own unique spin on classic dishes from the region. Guests will also get the inside scoop on his favorite experiences down under, from exploring the wilds of Kangaroo Island to taking a once-in-a-lifetime swim with bluefin tuna.
