Practically Obsessed: The Ultimate Oatmeal Chocolate Chip Cookie

The Ultimate Oatmeal Chocolate Chip Cookie

LASates contributor and tireless baker Christina T. embarked on yet another "Practically Obsessed" mission.  The fruits of her labor this time around?  The ultimate oatmeal chocolate chip cookies.

Practically Obsessed laboratory experiments have resulted in a simple and balanced recipe that produces insanely good cookies--even with modest grade ingredients.

We challenge you to produce a better batch with some other oft-traded recipe.  Hell, we dare you to try and produce a batch any less than tasty and delicious using the recipe below.

Oatmeal Chocolate Chip Cookies

Ingredients

1 C flour

1/2 tsp baking soda

1/2 tsp baking powder

1/4 tsp salt

1/2 C butter (room temp)

1/2 C sugar

1/2 C brown sugar

1 egg

1 tsp vanilla

1/2 C rolled oats

1 C chocolate chips

Directions

Preheat oven at 350 degrees. In a medium sized bown, whisk dry ingredients and set aside.  In another bowl, cream butter and sugar. Mix in egg, vanilla, rolled oats and chocolate chips. Chill the dough for a couple of hours (optional but recommended for extra depth of flavor).

Using a 1.5 T cookie scoop, scoop cookie dough onto pan lined with parchment paper. These cookies really spread so you'll want to leave a good amount of space between them. Bake for about 14-15 min. Remove from oven and let sit on pan for 5 min. Move cookies to cooling rack. Once cooled, enjoy or wrap in wax paper to store.

Yields about 18 cookie.
