LOS ANGELES, CA (July 16, 2010) – Magnolia Bakery, the celebrated New York institution known for its classic American desserts, opens its doors tomorrow, July 17, 2010 to its new Los Angeles location. Set on the corner of Third Street and Orlando Avenue in West Hollywood, Angelenos can now taste the signature pastel buttercream cupcakes—famously credited for starting the modern day cupcake craze—as well as the rich banana pudding, full line of cakes and icebox cakes, brownies, bars and cookies, cheesecakes and freshly baked breakfast muffins and coffee cakes that New Yorkers have been enjoying for years. With everything made fresh from scratch daily using only the finest ingredients, Los Angeles is in for a delicious treat.
With four locations in New York and one in Dubai, owners Steve and Tyra Abrams are excited to bring their quintessential Bakery west. “There is such a strong cross-culturalization between New York and Los Angeles," says Steve, "We love being a part of this city and it's an added bonus that some of our closest friends are here." Adds Tyra, “We wanted to become a part of this community and create a neighborhood place that offers a welcoming respite from the pressures and pace of urban life. That's what everything about Magnolia Bakery is designed to do.”
Priding itself on tradition and quality while striving to satisfy loyal patrons, the newest Magnolia Bakery location embodies the nostalgic feel of a neighborhood bakery with vintage décor harkening back to the '30s and '40s. Involved in all aspects of style and design―from the logo on the to-go boxes to the colors on the walls―Tyra drew on her passion for 'rummaging' as she incorporated vintage baking items, antique tin signs, and classic tin cake carriers, into the Art Deco space.
Magnolia’s baked goods are made fresh from scratch on premises―all day, every day―using only the finest ingredients. The menu includes favorites such as Magnolia’s Classic Cupcakes iced in Magnolia's own signature pastel buttercream and hand colored sprinkles ($2.75 for classics, $3.25 for specialty); Icebox Cakes made with freshly whipped sweet cream, strawberry purée or pure peppermint extract ($4.50 by the slice, $26 whole); Magnolia’s Famous Banana Pudding with fresh bananas, creamy vanilla pudding and layers of vanilla wafers ($4.50 for 12 oz, $5.50 for 16 oz); Classic Layer Cakes including the most popular rich buttery old fashioned Vanilla Cake ($4.25 by the slice, $28-$46 whole); a selection of Specialty Layer Cakes including Devil’s Food made with Dutch cocoa and choice of chocolate, caramel or mocha buttercream or caramel cream cheese icing ($5.50 by the slice, $32-$55 whole); traditionally classic Brownies, Bars & Squares ($2.50); Individually Sized Mini Cheesecakes including the cherished Red Velvet Cheesecake ($5.50); and Fresh from the oven Breakfast Muffins ($2.25). To complement the selection of desserts and breakfast items, the bakery offers their Magnolia Blend Coffee, a smooth and flavorful proprietary brew with a “Fair Trade” designation($1.50 - $2 cup, $8 - $12 a bag). Fitting with Los Angeles’ driving culture, the neighborhood bakery will also feature curbside pick-up for customers on-the-go.
